Trent Mason – Huskies Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Trent Mason and assistant coaches Geoff Pyke and SeanThomas head up the Keyano College Huskies for the 2011-2012 season. Mason and Thomas are no strangers to Huskies men’s volleyball as they were part of the coaching staff from 2004-2009. (Thomas 2004-2009, Mason 2005-2009). Together they coached the Huskies to 17 wins and three losses in 2008-2009. The same year the Huskies reached a No. 1 ranking in the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association and hosted the 2009 CCAA men’s volleyball national championships. Thomas also played volleyball for the Huskies for four years and was a three-time ACAC academic awards recipient. Mason also played for the Huskies in 1999-2000 as a University Transfer student. Mason was voted ACAC Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year for the 2007-2009 seasons and was also named the CCAA Men’s Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2009. Pyke, a local firefighter, comes to Keyano after coaching the Seneca Sting to two Ontario Colleges Athletic Association medals during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. The Sting finished seventh at the 2009 CCAA men's volleyball national championships in Fort McMurray. Pyke also has five years of university playing experience in the role of setter for York University (four years) and Memorial highlighted by an Ontario University Association championship in 2004. Together the three coaches look forward to combining their experiences towards success in 2011. |
