The women’s basketball team is taking a season off from league competition, but will start in ACAC for the 2010-11 season. New coach Clayton Nielson said the good thing about basketball is that it doesn’t get going until December.
“It gives me a chance to find some contacts for high school coaches in town, which has been done and has been great,” Nielson said.
“Everything’s keen to get going and get a relationship built, which is awesome.”
The Huskies basketball season will feature exhibition and tournament games aplenty, as the team works towards hitting the ground running in a tough ACAC North division.
“I’m hoping we’ll be really athletic,” Nielson said. “What we’ll lose in experience, we’ll gain in being athletic and being able to run and being able to have a really good effort and be really tough.
“That’s what we really want to start off with next year is show people how tough we’re going to be and how fast we are.”
