IAN DIAZ Ian Diaz, 34, may be a name familiar to the Fort McMurray soccer community as he was Technical Director for the Fort McMurray Youth Soccer Association for 2000- 2001.

The last nine years he has coached various women’s soccer teams in Edmonton, highlighted by a bronze medal for the West Raiders at the 2010 Canadian Youth Nationals Under-18 Women’s Championships.

Diaz was also director the last two years at Ross Sheppard High School’s Women's Soccer Academy.

As a player Diaz represented Canada at the 2006 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with his team placing eighth.

He was also a member of the Edmonton Drillers of the National Professional Soccer League 2000-2001 and a player with the University of Alberta Golden Bears 1999 -2000.

“I’m excited and I am looking forward to coaching (Keyano Huskies),” said Diaz, “Coaching at this level is something I have always wanted to do and it was not an opportunity not to pass up.

“We will be focused on progression and moving forward. Scouting will be a big thing to make Keyano Huskies women's soccer a little bit more sustainable and I have already been working on that.”

Diaz replaces head coach Claude Bolton
