Harleen Singh named 16th CCAA All-Canadian in Keyano Huskies history
November 6, 2024
Keyano College Huskies Athletics is proud to announce that Women's Soccer student-athlete Harleen Singh has been named the 16th Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian in the history of the athletics program.
Following Felicia Rodney in 2022-23, Singh becomes the second Women's Soccer student-athlete to earn the honour. Singh accepted the award at the 2024 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship Banquet in Vancouver, B.C. Tuesday night.
"It’s honestly a great feeling," Singh said. "I feel very thankful, but throughout this whole journey it’s a reflection of all the support I’ve had from my teammates and my coaches, my family, and my loved ones. All this recognition is just, as much as it’s mine, it’s theirs. I’m very thankful to have all their unconditional support throughout this whole journey.
"This past season was definitely a very tough one. There was an emotional rollercoaster for a lot of us. Throughout the whole season, looking back at it, through every obstacle we overcame and went through it built us more as a family. It was probably one of the most memorable seasons I’ve had just to know that through every setback my team was still there."
One of the team’s captains, Singh played a critical role in leading the Women’s Soccer Huskies to an ACAC Bronze Medal this season, scoring 10 goals and 13 assists in the regular season, leading the conference in assists.
She also earned her third-straight ACAC All-Conference Team nomination. For her ACAC career, Singh is one of the most accomplished student-athletes in ACAC Women’s Soccer history with 32 goals and 35 assists over her five-year career, placing her in the top 10 all-time in ACAC scoring and among the ACAC’s all-time leaders in assists. Her role as a leader has also been echoed by her compassion for her teammates and willingness to work on mentoring the next iteration of leaders for the program.
"The past seven years technically has been quite a journey," Singh said. "It’s been a lot of self-growth and discovery. I’m very thankful to know that throughout the journey I’ve had coaches who pushed me to be my best, I’ve had teammates who pushed me to be my best.
"I’m very thankful to know that I’m leaving this whole experience stronger than when I started."
