Huskies' Miller named ACAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Year; pair earn all-Conference honours
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Keenan Miller of the Keyano College Huskies has been selected as the 2024-25 ACAC Men’s Basketball North Division Player of the Year.
“Keenan is one of the most efficient players we’ve had at Keyano,” Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga said. “He does it at both ends of the floor. He shows his leadership through his play each and every night.”
The 2024 CCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament MVP turned up the heat on defenses in the 2024-25 regular season, averaging 18.3 points per game.
Starting all 20 of the Huskies’ games, Miller led them as they compiled a 17-3 record to top the ACAC’s North Division for a fifth-straight season. Miller also averaged 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and nearly a full steal on a per game basis for the Huskies.
Shooting 51.3 percent from the field, 47.3 percent on three-point shots, and 83.8 percent from the foul line, all improvements from the 2023-24 season, Miller put the rest of the conference on notice. In 18 of the Huskies’ 20 games, he recorded double-digit performances.
On November 22, 2024, Miller set a new personal single-game high with 27 points in an 82-66 win against the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks. He equalled this in the second half with a 27-point performance on January 10, 2025 against the Concordia Thunder.
In eight games, Miller shot 100 percent from the foul line and was good on all his three-point attempts in two separate games this season, claiming the conference’s second place ranking in three-point percentage.
He was also tied for fourth in the conference in field goal and free throw percentage.
Miller’s selection marks the fourth-straight season a Men’s Basketball student-athlete at Keyano College has won the award and the fifth win overall after Zach Alger-Waldher (2011-12), Sean-Michael Clancey (2021-22, 2022-23) and Omeechi Williams (2023-24).
The award was presented at the 2025 ACAC Men's Basketball Awards Banquet at Briercrest College in Caronport, Sask. Wednesday night.
Williams, Miller earn All-Conference honours
Omeechi Williams (Hamilton, Ont.) and Miller were recognized as members of the 2024-25 ACAC North Division All-Conference First Team as well Wednesday.
Williams followed up his 2023-24 Player of the Year campaign averaging 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.9 steals on a per game basis as the Huskies claimed the top spot in the ACAC’s North Division for the fifth-straight season.
Now the all-time leading scorer in Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball history, Williams recorded 12 double-digit games this season, including a 32-point performance on January 25 at home. Williams was tied for 19th in points per game in the entire conference and 12th in rebounds.
