Mestre, Marshall named All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Futsal student-athlete Marissa Mestre (Hamilton, Ont.) and Men’s Futsal student-athlete Jacob Marshall (Burton-Upon-Trent, England) have been recognized as the All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 9, 2025.
The pair helped their squad reach the quarterfinals of their respective Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Futsal Championships last weekend in Lloydminster, Sask.
“Marrissa shone as a key player both on and off the field,” Head Coach Luiz Pedro Guimaraes said. “Her determination and skill were on full display as she scored the majority of her team’s goals again, showing impressive composure, vision, and technical ability under pressure.
“Whether setting up plays or finding the back of the net herself, Marissa demonstrated an outstanding ability to lead by example.”
Mestre was also recognized for an outstanding regular season, earning a spot on the ACAC North Division All-Conference First team.
On the men’s side of the competition, Marshall led the Huskies one last time in his ACAC career as the team made it through to the quarter-finals at the tournament before bowing out against the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings.
“In his final weekend competing for the Huskies, Jacob showed once again how important he has been in building the program to where it is now,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. “His skill on the field and court as well as his undeniable commitment and leadership came through again during the futsal championships.”
