Singh, Fitzpatrick named All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women's Soccer student-athlete Harleen Singh (Calgary, Alta.) and Men's Soccer student-athlete Josh Fitzpatrick (Ottawa, Ont.) have been recognized as the All In Sports Den Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 6, 2024.
The pair played leading roles in victories for the Huskies Soccer teams in their final home game of the 2024 regular season against the Portage College Voyageurs.
Singh scored three goals and added four assists in a 12-0 win for the Women's Soccer Huskies while Fitzpatrick was instrumental in the attack of the Men's Soccer Huskies in a 3-0 win. The pair earned Player of the Game honours for their respective sides from the match.
“[Harleen] was just involved in everything today,” Head Coach Tiffany Fontaine said of the fifth-year student-athlete from Calgary, Alta. “It was hard not to reward her with the Player of the Game. She constantly was sending crosses in, the shots were on, beautiful balls on the ground hitting people’s feet. She was a key contributor all across.”
Singh scored the Huskies' seventh, ninth, and 12th goals of the game while assisting on the third, sixth, eighth, and tenth goals by the Huskies. It marked the seventh multi-goal game of her ACAC career in her 48th ACAC Regular Season game. Singh currently leads the team with nine assists and also ranks third with six goals.
Hailing from Calgary, Alta., Singh is in her fifth year of eligibility and has amassed an incredible ACAC career to date that includes 28 goals and 31 assists.
While Fitzpatrick didn’t score in Sunday's match, he did finish the game with eight shots, strengthening his contribution to the team’s attack. He has four goals and two assists on the season for the defending ACAC Men’s Soccer Champions.
“Josh had a good weekend,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. “He’s a danger in the final third and we just need him to finish a little bit more, but it’s something that he’s really improved on already.
“If he keeps doing the right things, he’ll see the pictures and that’ll make him successful. It’s potentially his last home game and he showed off why we’ll miss him if he does end up leaving our program.”
The Huskies will head to Edmonton for weekend games against The King's University Eagles Saturday at 2:00pm and 4:00pm followed by games against the Concordia Thunder Sunday at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
