Niels Slotboom named ACAC Men's Futsal Coach of the Year
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) announced Niels Slotboom of the Keyano College Huskies has been named the 2026 ACAC Men’s Futsal Coach of the Year.
Slotboom has returned the Huskies to their status as perennial contenders in ACAC Men’s Futsal, leading them to their fourth-straight ACAC Championship appearance this season on the strength of a 5-1-0 record, earning them first place in the ACAC’s Northeast Division.
In his time as Head Coach of the Men’s Futsal team, Slotboom has compiled a 25-9-1 record (0.724 winning percentage) in the regular season, adding ACAC Championships with the Men’s program to his coaching resume in 2023 and 2024.
This honour marks Slotboom’s third-straight ACAC Men’s Futsal Coach of the Year award. He was also recognized as the ACAC Women’s Futsal Coach of the Year in 2023-24.
“Niels has done a great job with his team again this season and it shows as his peers have recognized him again as Coach of the Year,” noted Huskies Athletics General Manager Jeremy Wielenga.
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2026 ACAC Men’s Futsal Championship hosted by the Medicine Hat College Rattlers in Medicine Hat, Alta.
