Menting, Jaartsveld named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Soccer student-athlete Aimée Menting (Bussum, Noord-Holland, The Netherlands) and Men’s Soccer student-athlete Casper Jaartsveld (Bussum, Noord-Holland, The Netherlands) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 28, 2025.
Menting scored the third and fourth goals of her rookie season in a 4-0 win against the Portage College Voyageurs while Jaartsveld secured the game-winning goal in a 2-1 result as the Men’s Soccer Huskies extended their winning streak to three games.
“She really has been picking it up every weekend as we go,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said. “I think that the dots are starting to connect to her and she’s starting to understand where she can be successful and effective so that’s what we’re seeing every game now.
“She’s been great and I’m sure that’ll continue.”
Menting scored late in the first half and then again in the 71st minute for the Huskies to account for the first and third goals of the game as the Huskies. Menting’s first goal in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) competition had come earlier in the season at home against the Voyageurs.
Jaartsveld’s first ACAC goal featured as the difference in another tight battle between the Huskies and Voyageurs. After the home side had tied the game in the 78th minute in Lac la Biche, Alta. Saturday, Jaartsveld buried a scoring chance past the goalkeeper following a dramatic play by rookie Mekai James, which bounced off the goalpost, off the head of Daniel Hudson, and right to the rookie Jaartsveld.
“He’s been working hard and he’s starting to see some results for himself now,” Slotboom said. “So it’s been great seeing him come out of his shell a little bit as a player and as an individual. I’m excited to see how he’ll do from here on out.”
The Huskies third home weekend will be a big one for both clubs in the playoff push. The Huskies will begin the second half of their respective seasons against The King’s University Eagles.
Friday’s kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm while Saturday’s kick-off will take place at 2:00pm. The Women’s game will feature first, followed by the Men’s game, with admission free for all fans.
