Box, Nkassa, and Ebbs named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Volleyball student-athlete Erika Box (Saskatoon, Sask.), Men’s Basketball student-athlete Sammuel Nkassa (Spring, Texas, USA), and Men’s Volleyball student-athlete Tim Ebbs (Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia) have been named the Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 25, 2026.
Box reached a significant milestone over the course of a weekend split, recording 83 assists in the two matches to go along with seven kills, four digs, one block. Already the all-time leader in assists for the Keyano Huskies Women’s Volleyball program, Box became the seventh student-athlete in ACAC Women’s Volleyball history to reach 1,500 career assists.
“Erika has really grown into her leadership position on the team,” said Head Coach Tommy Sloan. “She added a few blocks for good measure.”
Nkassa was a force on the court for the Keyano Huskies Men’s Basketball team, recording a pair of double-doubles in a weekend sweep of the Concordia Thunder. Across the two games, Nkassa had 41 points on 46.9% (15-for-32) shooting from the field, 24 rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
“Sam was great at both ends of the floor with his scoring and he was huge for us on the glass,” said Interim Head Coach Jeremy Wielenga. “He brought energy on defensive end that help lead us to success on the road this past weekend.”
The double-digit point effort Saturday was his fourth-straight game and 10th of the 13 games he’s played this season. His 12.5 points per game rank fourth on the Huskies, who now have six different players averaging double-digit points per game this season.
On the home volleyball court, Ebbs collected 12 kills, five digs, one ace, and one assist in a weekend sweep of the Concordia Thunder.
“Tim was great for us this weekend,” said Head Coach Keegan Kuhr. “He is a very selfless player willing to go in wherever we need him. He scored very well in the two positions he played for us.”
Ebbs is averaging 1.98 kills per set this season across 42 sets played. He’s also contributed 42 digs, 14 assists, 14 blocks, and eight service aces for the division-leading Huskies.
The Keyano Huskies are on the basketball court this weekend at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Action tips off at 6:00pm Friday and 1:00pm Saturday. Fans are encouraged to wear white to Friday's games to support the Pack.
