Cadieux, Silveira named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Basketball student-athlete Danika Cadieux (Bezanson, Alta.) has been named the Keyano Huskies Female Athlete of the Week. Additionally, Men’s Volleyball student-athlete Arthur Silveira (São Paulo, Brazil) has been named the Keyano Huskies Male Athlete of the Week.
Cadieux helped the Women’s Basketball Huskies close out their regular season on a high note with a weekend split against the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings. Over the two games, Cadieux scored 27 points, adding six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
“Danika finished up the season as one of our most consistent players all year,” Head Coach Dwayne Vigilance said. “Her 20-point performance Friday led us to the upset win. Saturday, the points weren’t there but her defence was outstanding.”
Cadieux’s 20 points in Friday’s 61-54 win saw her shoot 8-for-15 (53.3%) from the field, including three of the Huskies’ six three-pointers in the game. The performance also marked her 10th double-digit scoring performance of the season.
The third-year student-athlete from Bezanson, Alta. set new single-season best marks in minutes played (516), free throw percentage (71.9%), points (206), rebounds (46), assists (27), and steals (43).
Silveira had a strong weekend for the Keyano Huskies Men’s Volleyball team, closing out the regular season with a pair of wins against the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings.
“Arthur was solid all weekend for us,” Head Coach Keegan Kuhr said. “It was nice to see him get in such an offensive rhythm on Saturday.”
Silveira appeared in all eight sets across the weekend, a straight-sets victory Friday and five-set win Saturday, accumulating 22 kills, 14 digs, three assists, two aces, and one block.
The rookie from São Paulo, Brazil concluded his inaugural season in the conference with 202 kills across 60 sets. He also contributed 109 digs, 27 aces, 15 assists, and 13 blocks for the Huskies, who topped the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) North Division with a 16-3 record.
The Huskies will be in action next in the quarterfinals of the 2026 ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championship, taking on the Ambrose Lions on Thursday, February 26 in Red Deer, Alta.
