Andersson, Vullinghs named Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week
Keyano College Huskies Athletics announced today that Women’s Soccer student-athlete Nathalie Andersson (Uppsala, Sweden) and Men’s Soccer student-athlete Stef Vullinghs (Vlijmen, North Brabant, The Netherlands) have been named the first Keyano Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 7, 2025.
The pair made key contributions as the Huskies swept their opening weekend games of the 2025 ACAC Soccer season.
Andersson started her fifth and final season in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) with a hat trick.
In Saturday’s home opener at SMS Equipment Place against the Portage College Voyageurs, Andersson scored the second, sixth, and eighth goals of the game for the home side in the eventual 8-0 win. The goals, coming in the 27th, 67th, and 84th minutes, marked the third hat trick of her ACAC career.
“Any striker wants to get off the ground running,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said of Andersson. “There’s no better way of doing that than scoring three right in the first game. Hopefully she gets some confidence out of that.
“They were all good goals as well, individually created or really nice team play.”
The five-time ACAC medalist has now appeared in 39 ACAC Regular Season games with the Huskies, recording 18 goals and 10 assists. In her fifth year of eligibility, the Uppsala, Sweden product is enrolled in the Human Resource Management Diploma program at Keyano College.
Vullinghs also made his mark on the 2025 ACAC season with a pair of goals in his first-career ACAC game. With the Huskies behind 1-0 at the half, Vullinghs scored in the 48th minute and then notched a goal of the year entry in the 81st minute to secure three points for the Huskies.
“That’s obviously why we have him here,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said of the performance. “He’s got some big shoes to fill; there’s been lots of really good players in our program that have now moved on because they’ve graduated out and are on to greener pastures.
“That’s the pressure that is on all of our players. Stef lived up to that today and that second goal was what saved us.”
Vullinghs, a product of Vlijmen, North Brabant, The Netherlands, is in his first year of eligibility studying Business at Keyano College. For his performance, Vullinghs was named the Player of the Game.
