Keyano Huskies announce hiring of Anthony Skepple
Fort McMurray, Alta. August 6, 2025 – Keyano Huskies Athletics today announced the hiring of Anthony Skepple as Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team and as Coordinator, Junior Huskies.
“The success that he had at Briercrest College will help him here.” noted Huskies Athletics General Manager Jeremy Wielenga. “He’s done an excellent job there and combined with his professional experience in the CEBL with the Rattlers, I think it’s a great fit for us moving forward.”
Skepple comes to the Huskies from the Briercrest College Clippers of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).
Hired as Head Coach of the Clippers’ Women’s Basketball team in April 2020, Skepple guided the program to back-to-back ACAC Bronze medals as well as a fourth-place finish in the most recent academic year. Skepple was recognized as the ACAC South Division Coach of the Year during the 2022-23 season. In April 2025, Skepple joined the coaching staff of the Rattlers as an Assistant Coach. Skepple played his collegiate basketball with The King’s University Eagles.
“I’m here to help these guys become the best versions of themselves,” noted Skepple of his coaching philosophy and approach to the game. “It’s the premiere program in Men’s Basketball in the ACAC and one of the premiere programs on the men’s side in the country.”
The Huskies return to the court on Friday, October 17 for their 2025-26 Regular Season home opener, hosting the Medicine Hat Rattlers at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Tip-off for the game day is at 6:00pm with the Women’s game first, followed by the Men’s game at approximately 8:00pm.
