Men's Basketball Huskies fend off Lightning for home win
The Keyano Huskies Men's Basketball team defended their home turf with a 76-64 win Friday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
Keenan Miller led the way with 21 points while Tafari Carefoote-Jones knocked down five three-point shots in a 15-point performance. Wan Deng joined the pair in the double-digits club, making six of the Huskies' 11 free throws in his performance.
It was the Lightning bursting out to an early lead, taking the first quarter by a 18-14 score. The Huskies fired back with a 24-point second quarter, featuring 10 from Miller, to lead by five at the half.
The Huskies would ultimately shoot 46.4% (26-for-56) from the field, making 13 three-point shots in the match. In addition to Carefoote-Jones' five, Miller had five too with Efosa Omorogbe adding a pair off the bench and Joyce Dumbu knocking one down too.
Deandre Rowe and DJ Haynes had nine and six points respectively to complement the trio in double digits.
Up next for the Huskies is their final game of the first semester, hosting the Ambrose Lions Saturday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.
