Keyano Huskies announce hiring of Julian Carr as Head Coach, Women's Soccer & Futsal
Keyano College Huskies Athletics today announced the hiring of Julian Carr as the new Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer and Futsal program. Additionally, Carr will take over responsibilities as the Gameday Coordinator.
“I wanted to get back into the post secondary game and saw that it was an opportunity,” Carr said. “I just figured, you know what? I can do this, because I did it for so long in the OCAA and then I proved it again that I could do it in the OUA.”
Carr brings nearly two-decades worth of experience in Canadian post-secondary soccer to the Huskies, most notably as the Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer program at Centennial College in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).
He also worked on the coaching staffs of the Humber Hawks and Seneca Sting in the OCAA as well as the University of Windsor Lancers in Ontario University Athletics (OUA).
“My coaching philosophy is basically to have players play to their strengths and then use their strengths for us to be successful,” Carr continued. “Ideally, I like a free flowing, open-touch game where it’s controlled, but at the same time, for a team defending us, it’s organized chaos.
“For a team that thinks that they have us figured out. Well, we have two or three different ways to play.”
Carr, more used to the 11-a-side game, said the futsal season would give him the chance to see how players played in tight spaces, but that he was also eager to recruit during the coming months for the 2026 outdoor season.
“I’m happy to be here,” Carr continued. “I’m excited. I was excited when I was awarded the position, and I’m still excited about it. Getting to know the players, getting to see the atmosphere at the school, is fantastic here. And, you know what? You only wished that most schools are like this.
Carr’s first regular season matches will see him coach the Keyano Huskies Women’s Futsal team at the 2026 ACAC Northeast Regional Tournament January 17-18 at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre.
