Women's Volleyball Huskies swept by Lions
The Keyano Huskies Women's Volleyball team encountered a tough match on the road this past weekend, falling to the Ambrose University Lions in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-13) match in Calgary Saturday.
Amanda Onyeukwu led the Huskies with six kills, one ahead of teammate Adyson Wilson. Milan Schapowal and Saige Kehoe each had three kills to their credit in the match.
In the setter role, Erika Box collected 15 assists, also contributing a kill and a dig. Kehoe and Wilson each collected a pair of blocks in the contest. Rory Bell led the Huskies with three digs in the match.
The Huskies closed out the first half with a 3-6 record, led by 77 kills from Onyeukwu, 48 from Wilson, and 47 from Schapowal. Onyeukwu also leads the team with 58 digs and is ninth overall in the conference for points scored.
Schapowal and Onyeukwu are tied for the team lead in blocks at 12. Box's 165 assists ranked eighth in the entire conference.
Up first for the Huskies in 2026 is a pair of home dates against the Lakeland Rustlers. The matches are scheduled for 6:00pm on Friday, January 9 and 1:00pm on Saturday, January 10.
